Travel by CarThe main traffic routes into Aberdeen are the A90 from the South and the A96 from the North. The A90 is entirely dual carriageway south of Aberdeen; the A96 has stretches of dual carriageway. Like many major cities, Aberdeen is becoming congested with traffic and the rush hour is best avoided if possible. Parking at the University is tight during term time. Visitors can get a permit before arriving by contacting the department they will be visiting. Travel by Local BusBus information is available by telephoning First, the main local operator, on +44 (0)1224-650065 - or by visiting their website at http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/scotland/nescot/home/index.php. Aberdeen buses require the exact fare, so have some change ready or buy a Farecard (available from local shops). The First in Aberdeen Metro "Red Line" services 1 ("Danestone") and 2/2A ("Ashwood") operate to a combined 5 minute frequency during the daytime and a combined 15 minute frequency evenings and Sundays - on return to City, these buses show 1/1A ("Garthdee") or 2/2A ("Auchinyell"). Other services that pass the main university entrance on King Street are 15 ("Dubford") which run only during the daytime Monday-Saturday to a 30 minute frequency - on return to City, these buses show 15 ("Kingswells" or "Woodend"). There are other services (starting from Broad Street) which serve other parts of the campus - First in Aberdeen Metro Indigo Line 20 ("Hillhead") travels along College Bounds and First in Aberdeen Metro Turquoise Line 19 ("Tillydrone") travels via Bedford Road, both every 15 minutes during the daytime Monday-Saturday and every 30 minutes at other times.
